When have members of Phish played with other bands?

Members of Phish have appeared as guests with a number of other bands, including:

  • the Allman Brothers Band (esp. Page), e.g. 3-26-92, where Trey ran the lights
  • the Aquarium Rescue Unit (who also shared some co-billed gigs with Phish) featured Page and Fishman (and Dave Grippo) on 7-7-92.
  • the Roxy Power Jam, featuring members of a number of bands with whom the band has had co-billed gigs: Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Noel Redding (of the Jimi Hendrix Experience), John Popper (Blues Traveler), Paul Schaefer (Letterman band), Anton Fig (Letterman band?), Will Smith (?), Warren Haynes (Allmans), Dave Matthews, and others.
  • Page sat in with the Metronome House Band (the Metronome is the upstairs of Nectar's) for Herbie Hancock's "Chameleon" and "Shake Everything You Got" on 2-2-94.
  • the Dave Matthews Band - The first was on 01/26/95 at Memorial Auditorium - Burlington, VT. Trey played Jimi Thing, Recently, Water-Wine Jam, Ants Marching, and Tripping Billies with the band. On 2-24-95 at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC, NY, Trey, along with John Popper (Blues Traveler, harmonica) played with the band for All Along the Watchtower.
  • Max Creek has featured Mike on bass several times, including 2-24-96 and 5-2-97.
  • Michael Ray and the Cosmic Crewe (2-3-95 Johnson Collage, VT w/Trey; 3-8-94 Club Toast Burlington w/Trey & Fish; 6-3-94 Burlington, VT w/Trey; 7-26-94 I,II Club Toast w/Trey & Fish; 11-10-94 Burlington, VT w/Page; 4-30-95 Jimmy's New Orleans w/Trey & Fish; and 4-28-96 Jimmy's New Orleans w/Trey & Page)
  • Shockra (who also shared some co-billed gigs with Phish) gigs have included appearances by Phish for three songs 2/1/92 and for the 9/4/92 second set; by Mike and Jon 1/27/93; by Jon 11-30-91 II and 2.6.93 II, and once later in '93; and by Mike 2/17/94 (both sets).
  • Blue Traveler (who also shared some co-billed gigs with Phish) featured Trey and Page (plus Jerry Gold) 9-8-90; and Trey (on Gloria) 10-6-90.
  • Sons of Papaya (4/8/95 featured Jon and his mother, who has reportedly also played with other small local and regional acts.)
  • Zambiland Orchestra: with Jon 12/22/97
  • Gordon Stone Trio emerged from something Trey helped start, but have also featured Fishman, on 9-20-97 (according to Andrew Cotton <acotton@together.net> and <sniss1@aol.com>).
  • Mr. Charlie and the Blues for Breakfast Band featured Fishman on drums for one song 7-19-97 at the Vermont Brewers Festival (according to Adam Kurth <adam@kurth.com>
  • Galactic, 5/5/97, Mermaid Lounge, New Orleans, LA with J Fishman
  • Unsorted: Jon and Mike showed up at the White Rabbit (??) 10-14-95; Mike played with Gordon Stone (on banjo) and the guitarist from Smokin Grass at Slade Hall (UVM Redstone Campus; where Phish got an early start) 10-1-96; Fish and Trey appeared at Club Toast 10-19-97 with ???; Fishman played with Shokra at Club Toast 2-15-92.
  • Stash, a Phish cover band, featured Fishman for three tunes (Wilson, Rocky Top, NICU, and Slave) 4-12-97 at Chuck's in Syracuse, NY (where Phish played in 1988).
  • The Dude of Life featured Trey on West End Bleeker Blues on 2-5-94.
  • Neil Young, Sarah McLaughlin, and Willie Nelson during October 1998
  • The Ritz Power Jam occurred 2-5-93 at (tada!) the Ritz, in NYC. (There may have been a second Ritz Power Jam in March with a different lineup, but we don't have it here.) The full-show lineup was:
